Designed and marketed by Apple Inc., the iPhone is a line of smart phones.  Steve Jobs unveiled the first iPhone who was then the CEO of Apple, on January 9, 2007. On October 4, 2011the 5th generation iPhone, the iPhone 4S, was announced, and 10 days later, it was released.

As a video camera (video recording was not a standard feature until the iPhone 3GS was released), a camera phone, a portable media player, an iPhone can function. The user can also browse internet and send email. The web browsing capabilities has resulted in its immense popularity. The user can also send texts and receive visual voicemail. It has both Wi-Fi and 3G connectivity. Including a virtual keyboard rather than a physical one the user interface is built around the device’s multi-touch screen.

From the App Store, third-party as well as Apple application software is available, which has over 500,000 ”apps” approved by Apple, was launched in mid-2008. Including games, advertising for television shows, reference, GPS navigation, advertising for films, social networking, security, these apps have diverse functions.

Each accompanied by one of the five major releases of iOS (formerly iPhone OS), there are five generations of iPhone models. With established design precedents, such as screen size and button placement, the original iPhone was a GSM phone, and that have persisted through all models. 3G cellular network capabilities and A-GPS location was added in the iPhone 3G. Including video recording at 480pthe iPhone 3GS added a compass, faster processor, and higher resolution camera.

For FaceTime video calling and for use in other apps like Skype, the iPhone 4 has a rear-facing camera (720p video) and a front facing camera (at a lower resolution). A higher-resolution 960×640 display featured in the iPhone 4 and was released on June 24, 2010. In the U.S., when a CDMA version of the iPhone 4 launched for Verizon, AT&T was the only authorized carrier until February 10, 2011. Apple announced the iPhone 4S on October 4, 2011.

A higher resolution camera with 8 megapixel was added to the iPhone 4S along with face detection, 1080p video recording, and video stabilization, a faster dual core processor, on one chip, support for both GSM/UMTS and CDMA,  a natural language voice control system called Siri and GLONASS support. It is available in 16 GB, 32 GB and latest a new 64 GB capacity. It was announced in the United States, that two new carriers, Sprint and C Spire, would begin carrying the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S in October and November 2011, respectively.

In the Apple App Store there are hundreds of thousands of apps. To communication tools and incredible games they range from business and organizational apps. The prices range from $0.99 to over $10. Nowadays, free iPhone apps is also available. For the good free apps, sure you can spend hours searching, but what those free apps will be like, who knows. You have no doubt been burned by a free app that turned out to be total garbage as an iPhone lover, or this complete turn off may be because of it being a very weak, stripped-down version of the app you have to pay for.
